Professor Su-chao Xie

Central South University, Hunan, Changsha

Speech Title: Impact mechanism and applications of honeycomb-enhanced energy-absorbing structures

Suchao Xie, Ph.D., associate professor, doctoral supervisor, was selected as the "Shenghua Yu-ying" Talents of Central South University in 2015. He has published over 40 academic papers in well-known international journals,including 26 SCI papers, 6 EI papers. He has won many awards including special award of China Railway Science and Technology Prize, first award of Railway Science and Technology Prize, outstanding doctoral dissertation award of Hunan Province, "Expert of Youth Station", "Excellent Class Tutor", Xin Heng education reward, excellent graduation thesis instructor and other seven types of school awards.He served as the PI of two projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (Grant nos. 51775558, 51405516), one project of Hunan Education Department and more than 10 industrial projects.The total funds of these projects reached over 800 million RMB. Besides, he participated in more than 20 national and provincial projects.


Professor De-zhi Ning

Dalian University of Technology, Dalian, Liaoning

Speech Title: Influence of narrow gaps on the hydrodynamic performance in a multiple-offshore-object system

Prof. Ning got his PhD degree major in Port, Coastal and Offshore Engineering at Dalian University of Technology (DUT) in 2005. Then he worked in the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Research from 2005 to 2007. Now, he is the professor in the field of coastal and ocean engineering at Dalian University of Technology. He currently serves as the Head of the Offshore Renewable Energy Research Centre at DUT and the Associate Director of the State Key Laboratory of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, leading one of the top research groups in China on wave hydrodynamics and wave energy conversion (WEC). He is the Principal Investigator for four major projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and he is supported by the highly-competitive Excellent Young Scientist programme in China. He also leads a Royal Academy of Engineering Project under Newton Fund for the integration of WECs and floating breakwaters. He has published over 150 peer-reviewed journal/conference papers, and chaired several international conferences on marine hydrodynamics.

Professor Guo-xing Sun

University of Macau, Macau, China

Speech Title: Application of nanocomposites in construction materials

Dr. Guoxing Sun is a chemist and received his doctoral degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for a work on interaction between organic-inorganic phases in cement/polymer composites in January 2015. During his postdoc phase he extended these activities to cement-released nanoparticles for polymeric nanocomposite enhancement, which has been patented and published on SCI journals such as Nature Communications and Journal of Materials Chemistry A. He had worked in The Nano and Advanced Materials Institute Limited (Hong Kong) as a research engineer from September 2015 to January 2017, and then joined in Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering of University of Macau as an assistant professor, leading a research team composed of 20 PhD students and Postdoc fellows. His current research interests are related to polymer nanocomposites applied for construction and building materials, and some achievements have been commercialized in market.



Professor Chun-lai Tian

School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Pingxiang University, Jiangxi, China

Speech Title: Introduction of Open Source Software Application in Computer Aided Engineering

Prof. Dr. TIAN Chunlai is currently deputy dean of research and teaching at School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Pingxiang University. He received his Ph.D (2012) and B.Sc (2007) in Mechanical Engineering, Beijing Institute of Technology, China. He was visiting student (2010) and academic visitor (2018) in Sir Joseph Swan Institute for Energy Research, Newcastle University, UK.
His research focuses on the theoretical and experimental research on advanced system design in environmental protect and energy industry. He owned 12 patents and published more than 20 papers with 18 software packages. He is the leader of one innovation project and joins national key research project with active research grants. He has attended over 10 international conferences as keynote or invited speakers



Professor Ying-nan Yang

University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan

Speech Title: Development of solar-light-driven photocatalyst for energy and environmental application

Prof. Yingnan Yang is a Full Professor in Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Japan. Her research interest is in the field of Biological Engineering and Material Cycles including Environmental Science, Photocatalytic Technology and Biomass Conversion. Prof. Yang has published over 350 refereed papers and conference presentations and has filed seven patents. She has been serving as PI of a few projects supported by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS). She is editorial board of two international journals and has delivered many invited lectures at international conferences on Life and Environmental Sciences. She has received several awards such as Outstanding Presentation Award at International Symposium on Agriculture Education for Sustainable Development in 2011, Top Honor Award at Science Academy of Tsukuba Technology Showcase in 2013 and Best Faculty Member of University of Tsukuba in 2015. Her current research topics include design and development of highly efficient and eco-friendly purification and energy production systems by combining the synergistic effects of bioremediation and photocatalytic technologies.
